Changes…

We’ve moved from Chicago, after four years?,  a bit unclear, but not a good fit for many reasons- best not to dwell.

We’ve left behind a beautiful and spacious apartment, recently sold. A grand old building, in many ways the most poignant loss.

I’ll miss the apartment…and the snow.

Now in Bisbee Arizona where we’ve had a vacation home which will now our full time hermitage, our Bisbee Hermitage (below). It is a cottage, charming but too small for David’s  home office or a studio for me, so we’ve rented places locally. David is in a vast old Victorian building that certainly looks haunted- one almost hopes that is the case.

Bisbee is known for its ghosts.

My studio is more conventional in a 19th century sort of way, an old time glass fronted shop, now , soon to be , a capacious workshop. I’m very excited yet it is so public facing I feel a bit exposed.

I’ll adapt I am sure.

There is much to do , shipments being delivered this morning in fact, movers back and forth and we schlepping and hauling piece by piece. My ardent materialism has wrought quite a pile of stuff.

But for the moment some reflection of past studios in Chicago.

We began in Chicago with our pug Viola, she reigned supreme at home and at work. And then she passed and my first Chicago studio suddenly felt chilly.

I soon moved from that studio, it felt haunted with Viola’s spirit, same building, but smaller, cheaper, inadequate.

Much like Chicago itself , not quite a good fit. Took awhile but we’ve made the leap, and now in oddball Bisbee.

Hopefully a better fit.

The studio certainly is.

Once again a new studio clattering with sounds of raucous pugs, Puck (fawn) and Pansy (black).

A new chapter, will see what unfolds.

Will post now and then.
